Optimising Your Telematics System

by | Jan 28, 2021 | News Posts

Australia is making its way forward after the impacts of COVID-19 on the economy.  Now is the perfect time to optimise your fleet management and telematics systems.

One of the first things that can be done is updating your skills, with an online learning course. Quite often we find customers setting up their telematics system with just the basic information. Now could be the time to update all information about vehicles, drivers and user details.

Taking care of our customers has always remained a priority here at Netstar, and our team has put together a course for anyone that has a telematics system. To show how you can easily transition any telematics system with set deliverables and goals, to an efficient, optimised fleet management system, helping your business to run as smoothly as possible, even from the home office. To assist you with these tasks, you can access our free course here: Training: Working From Home with Telematics

What can I expect from this course?

Our Netstar Training and Support Team has created this online course, specifically, to give you as much information as possible on how to effectively utilise your time Working from Home and setting up a more accurate Telematics system, topics covered include:

  • Initial Training and Setup for all staff
  • How to access the training portal and getting started
  • Update all your vehicle details
  • Loading up Geofences and Fuel Records
  • Brainstorming Ideas to reduce fuel costs, improving Safety, Maintenance and Productivity
  • Applying for Fuel Tax Credits Analysis
  • Preparing GPS Policy Guides for your staff
  • Ultimate Beginners Guide to Pinpoint WebAVM4

At Netstar we are always looking towards the future and how we can improve our services and create more robust systems to guard against uncertainty and rapid change. Hence, why we are currently building Big Data Analysis Databases. These databases will be able to analyse vehicle data over much longer time periods, giving you a much better understanding of your vehicle utilisation, driver behaviour etc.

Why should I update my fleet details now?

The more information you can include on vehicles, assets and your fleet the better insights you will be able to get in the future. One of the features from our Netstar Commercial Solution, utilising the Pinpoint AVM Software, is the ability to add custom details. A good example is loading up geofences into a telematics system. These could be as simple as locations of all your customers, worksites, no-go zones, areas you may want to be alerted on if someone enters or leaves an area, etc. and by updating these areas, you are utilising your GPS telematics system more accurately.

What is going to be discussed in the Brainstorming sessions of this course?

We are here to help and we understand that the flow of ideas surrounding fleet optimisation might not be your priority currently.  Fleet Optimisation, however, is our specialty and helping you, our customer is always our priority.

Our Netstar Training and Support Team can help you focus on different areas by brainstorming ideas to improve your business outputs. Areas such as ways to reduce fuel usage, improve safety, maintenance and productivity.

Why should I apply for Fuel Tax Credits now?

Did you know that Netstar has the technology to automate some of your business practices, including Fuel Tax Credits?

We can help you apply for Fuel Tax Credits, it’s a simple setup, a no-risk trial that identifies if you are likely to save funds with the improved accuracy of GPS. Legislation on fuel tax credits may change and it is best to get it done now. Remember that you can claim for historic mileage too. It will also be of assistance with cash flow in a slow economy, this can give you peace of mind during these uncertain times. Finally, the Working From Home with Telematics course will touch on GPS Policy Guides and provide some background information about the various state-based laws that apply around Australia.  As well, we have created some templated guides, used by some of our own customers (who have allowed us to use their information as a starting point), to help you create your policies.
